The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God. They are corrupt, they have done abominable works, there is none that doeth good.

Knocking doors is where it all begins. This is where you find your team to win. The motto for your volunteers is a little or a lot, it all adds up. The main disadvantage you have as a Repub is you and all your team have jobs and families which take their time from helping you knock doors and Get Out The Vote in an effective manner so you have to make ever door and every minute count since this is your biggest adversity.

When I coached basketball the kids would learn how to make layups and the rest of the season layups was the main part of the practice. Part of the reason is I knew nothing about basketball but the layup is the main building block of the game and the team which made its layups usually won. Our team won most of its games year after year since we made our layups while they missed. Door knocking is the same as layups. Who knocks the most doors usually wins.

The key to the door is making the person comfortable since they are always worried someone is selling them something. I of course wear Duck gear as a conversation breaker and make them feel comfortable. Ideally you have a list to go off of but once you do it for a while you can spot most houses if they are Repub or Dim by having a flag, pickup, trailer, condition of the house and yard, etc.

When you are on someone’s porch you are really in the extended front room of their house and within a few minutes you can talk about real issues in their lives. If they are Conservatives you can have some real conversations about Trump, Tax Bills and what is going on in the city and their lives which they have a passion about.

If it is a Dem it is nice to meet you and off to the next house without any conversation let alone argument. If they want to rant about Trump or whatever just ignore them and go talk to someone who is a better prospect. It is all about making your minutes count although sometimes a 30 minute door is a great use of your time.

Your main goal is to get someone who will help you GOTV on that block. Once you say you are working to turn Oregon from Blue to Red you will have their attention. You can say you are looking for some help trying to make sure your neighborhood will vote for you or your candidate and would they mind putting up a sign in their yard.

People are more afraid than they used to be but you can put it by the door where it will be less likely to be stolen and will keep an eye out if they need replacement. You can explain if they have a sign in their yard their neighbors will consider voting for the candidate if you are voting for them. We called it conquering territory by filling neighborhoods with signs. Very visible corners are the prime territory.

Let them know you will be picking them all up after the election. If they do that you can go to the next level, which would be making sure their Conservative neighbors vote. You can tell them you will get them a list of their Repub and leaners on their block and would just talk to them after the ballots drop to remind them to vote and get their promise they would vote.

You will be surprised how many will say there are no Repubs on their block and when they find out who is they often have someone they can talk to about politics in deep Blue Oregon.

Lots would have coffee breaks with their neighbors they never talked to about politics before. If you have ten people who will get their neighbors to vote you just got a hundred votes of which fifty would have likely hit the garbage can and allows you to go find a hundred unlikely votes to keep their ballots out of the garbage.

You will find out how many people will be enthusiastic to talk with a fellow MAGA supporter and these you may have help you or become a volunteer for other things. Often they pour out their hearts from loneliness from deaths or diseases they need prayer for. It is really a gift to meet these people since so many are lonelier than ever before.

The keys to doors is ignore houses which are Dims or look dim, Rainbow Flag, BLM or We Believe signs etc. If you have a negative response thank them for their time and go to the next house immediately. Arguing is a waste of time when you can find a volunteer at the next.

This is the Repubs biggest advantage since Dims are not knocking like they were pre-Covid. When they do they are inefficient trying to save the eart by walking the houses rather than driving door to door in spread out neighborhoods. They do not like doing layups and would rather go to an ICE protest while we are organizing the neighborhoods for the main goal which is GOTV.
