What if everything the Oregon Republican Party knows about elections is wrong? After 40 years of losing you would think there would be some soul searching but the same people who have managed elections for the last twenty are still doing it today and expecting a different result.

Here is a crazy idea, have those brilliant campaign managers knock a few doors of independents and find out what they are actually looking for in a politician. No, they will just spend 50K on a phone push poll and say whatever it says. Here is a freebee, the young people are worried about buying food, rent, and gas.

That’s what they told me when I knocked poor apartment doors for Trump. He listened to them and won saying he would get prices lowered on food, rent, and gas. Forget taxes it puts everyone to sleep. Forests4Oregon represents a new way.

The motto of campaign managers is: No matter if we win or lose as long as the checks cash. Most managers are risk averse since they are afraid of losing if they do something out of the ordinary and how will they get hired next election. It is better to follow the standard formula and lose than to do something risky and lose.

Last night in New Jersey, NYC, VA and CA, they all ran safe campaigns and lost but will say they did everything they could or the big excuse is the Dems outworked them. Of course, they outworked them because they did not reach out to Trump and his MAGA army who are the people who knock doors and bring the juice to the campaign. You cannot have a serious campaign with those MAGA riff-raff running around as the smart people lose again.

You can bet the bigtime managers of Oregon are already telling their candidates to avoid Trump like the plague because he is not popular in Oregon. Chalk up election loss 42 as the same old boring vanilla talking points are hung on doors in nice little packets., manufacturing the most boring campaigns imaginable since he and all the other managers are risk averse. Knock 10,000 doors, make 100,000 calls, and 100,000 mailers and don’t talk to anyone so when you lose you can say you covered all your bases, your check please.

Next year’s Governor candidate will be told Trump and MAGA are not popular with Independents and will be told to stay as far away from them as possible. Safer counties in the south may have to embrace them and will get these activists to help their campaigns.

The smartest thing Trump did when he came down the escalator was he did not want to talk to any of the professional managers and he would be handling the campaign himself and did. He understood, good news or bad news just get the name spelled right. Jeb had all the winning managers already.

When I was inside the Repub castle one of the other Chairman said we would win our elections if it wasn’t for the Christians and their pro-life stands. All of the managers agreed you cannot be pro-life in Oregon and have a chance. Drazen proved that wrong since she was pro-life and got closer than any candidate in 40 years.

Where she lost the race was listening to her managers and being defensive about her stand on abortion. When she was in the debate and accused of being radical about abortion she should have turned it around on Kotax and Betsy. Her answer should have been I am not the radical but these two are who are for killing babies while they are being born, that is what is extreme. I am for saving as many babies as possible and they are for killing babies until the first breath and maybe later, that is extremely sick.

That would have fired up the pro-lifers and put her on the map rather than some lukewarm answer which was basically an apology. It was likely designed by her managers who did not want to take a risk and be controversial which they succeeded at. In Oregon you have two choices as a Conservative, you can win ugly or lose graciously. There have been too many gracious candidates and is time to find an ugly one to break the string.
