The Fishing Trip of a Lifetime
Hold fast the form of sound words, which thou hast heard of me, in faith and love which is in Christ Jesus. That good thing which was committed unto thee keep by the Holy Ghost which dwelleth in us.

Captain Jeff and our group have been trying to make this fishing trip happen for a couple of months but things just did not cooperate to make it come together. First the water was too warm so he said they have not gotten into the river and were hanging out at the mouth. Then he misread the tide book and had to push it back a week to have a morning tide which was from 3 AM to 10 so finally we made it Saturday morning.
A thunderstorm rolled in which made it feel like God was speaking and some much-needed cool water washed into the Columbia in the form of thunder showers. We got there at 5 and Captain Jeff and his son and grandson began setting up the intricate obstacle course for the salmon as the lightning lit the sky. His son Blake was a bit concerned of being on the river in a kayak with metal oars while lightning was flashing. We calmed him by saying it was just sheet lightning, but it moved north and quieted before he got on the water.
The men arrived and we began our fishing the way we start our meetings with corporate prayer and the brothers laid down some serious blessing and thanksgiving prayer to the Lord Almighty. It was a powerful way to begin fishing for God’s bounty.
As we were waiting Jeff said he was not sure about this place and had not heard much from the fellow fishermen of catching anything on this side of the river, but nobody knows with fishing so he put out his best tricks if there were any in there. The fishing boats were whizzing by us which was another bad sign.
He told me since I was the one who organized this event I would be the first rookie to land one although being my first salmon I had doubts if I could do it. I had fished as a kid and knew how to catch trout, but salmon was a whole different animal in size and strength. I was surprised they didn’t fight as hard as I expected. It was mostly dead weight rather than running and jumping you get with trout.
Then the fish showed up thanks be to God. I let a couple of retards go before me and they lost theirs and told Captain Jeff to have him and his son catch until we get a few, but one hit the rod next to me and I grabbed it and set the hook. Being the retard that I was I held the rod over my head to keep the tip up and they yelled to lower it and put it between my legs to get leverage which helped and kept reeling until the fish was in the net. Now we knew us fishing maroons could catch them too and the fun began.
The salmon started hitting and the reels began singing. Fish after fish came in and we wore the sons out netting, killing, posing, and resetting while Captain Jeff maintained the orchestra making it run like a Swiss Watch and run it did. His system was an absolute science for slaying salmon. When we were at around fifteen fish in three hours we made sure everyone caught one when a couple of the guys hadn’t and made sure they caught them.
Two of the guys did not really have the strength to hold the rod while reeling and others came in and held the poles while they reeled in the fish. It was a real brotherhood working together to make sure all the Brothers caught a fish and they did as we limited out.
A guy next to us said he had fished that beach his entire life and had never seen anything like the numbers of fish caught our group was catching. We even had three guys who we did not know reel in fish while they were taking down the rods and fish still hitting them while the strangers sat all morning without a bite.
This was God blessing out group and our mission. Forests4Oregon is doing God’s work by standing up to the enemy in Oregon. We are fighting the Pagan Cult and this was God’s Creation rewarding us for doing his work. We had men doing things men have done for centuries to feed their families and being a group of men accomplishing a harvest.
This was affirmation we are on the right track which Captain Jeff said over and over. He shared his gift to our group and is now a part of Forests4Oregon and perhaps a couple of others want to become members too. It was the time of a lifetime being with men, God and making memories for everyone there. This is what Oregon is and will be rather than what it has fallen to. Oregon is ready for the harvest and its rivers are full of fish waiting to be landed. Are you ready to stand up and make a cast? This could be your catch of your life.
Pray for Oregon
