Oregon Wins 1/2/2026

Beating Texas Tech like a rented mule was the biggest win in Oregon’s football history and its first Orange Bowl victory. There was a similar win against Florida State in the Rose Bowl leading to the loss against Ohio State, but this one is in the less fake fantasy playoff era, which is still rigged by ESPN but does have a number of real league champions playing each other.

The MVP of this game was Bryce Boettcher who is the heart and soul of this team. He and his partner Thieneman in the Caucasian Collision Unit had 24 tackles and caused a fumble which shut down the Red Raider offense completely. If you said they would hold Texas Tech scoreless you would have been called crazy but it is exactly what they did. This is the best team Oregon has ever had and especially on the defensive side which is where the team is always lacking.

Bryce would not let them lose this game and is on pace to having a movie made of the hometown kid becoming a two-sport star, all he needs is a dog dying. He was all over the field hitting everything that moved. He seems to have brought his range playing center field to the FB Linebacker position and is chasing down the ball wherever it goes.

He knows respect is not given it is earned by beating the best. He has the opportunity by winning two more games in his college career and take Oregon somewhere it has never been. He knows he has been given God given gifts if you listen to him and now God has him in a position he always dreamed watching from the stands in Autzen.

This team has gone to a completely new level. It is completely unbelievable a small school from the American Outback from a state which only has four million white people can have one of the top ten programs in the country. A town of 200K has a school which is beating the big boys surrounded by fifty million and especially down south and Los Angeles.

Oregon long ago figured they were not going to compete on size and talent so they needed a gimmick to level the field. Rich Brooks brought kids off the track team to add speed to his WR corps. Bellotti changed his offense to the pro-set which stretched the field and threw the ball downfield more to steal a game here and there.

Chip Kelly used the spread offense and speeded the game up to beat other teams in foot races and not letting them substitute. He spread the field out and had speedsters everywhere plus Nike made the uniforms cool to bring better athletes from around the country. Now, the gimmick is going back to old fashioned FB with strong defenses, big lines, mixed with world class speed and with the paying of players becomes a factor of stretching your dollars to the right places.

You add to this a getaway similar to the Siberian location Rocky went when he was fighting the Russian surrounded by the best training facilities in the world and you have all the pieces in place. The only thing missing was a reason and heart, enter Bryce Boettcher who has an endless amount of both as a walk on player who has become a national all star in both football and baseball.

Growing up in South Eugene watching games and likely knowing the Herbert brothers and you have someone the entire team want to go full Rudy for. They all would love to win one for Bryce and make him and this team legendary in Eugene. They are all trying to make Bryce the leader of the Caucasian Collision Club a player who will never have to buy another meal in Eugene the rest of his life.
