But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear:
More waste in the Marble Cupcake as Tiny Kotax figures out a way to drop a half a billion dollars on the Trailblazers while taxing them out of the state. You could not come up with a dumber boondoggle if you tried and boy howdy do they have some beauties.
For anyone not paying attention the Trailosers are threatening to leave the city if the Moda center is not updated into a modern arena with all the big screens and box seats to generate more money. They were demanding the city, county, or state to have their taxpayers foot the bill and the state agreed to drop around $400 million which means $5-700 million when it is pocketed by all their union friends.
Portland is not a sports town like Boston or Los Angeles, it is a political city and the team should be named the Portland Antifa. They are so political after coach Billups got indicted for point shaving they named a non-citizen interim coach to take over the team. This of course was to satisfy Antifa rather than picking an American coach and get the political heat especially if he were White.
If anyone has been to a real sports town like Boston and the Boston Garden you will find the entire city and state goes nuts over the team. The Garden has Championship banners completely across the roof rafters with one side being the Celtics and the other the Bruins. Celtic fans expect a Championship every year unlike Portland hoping to lose enough games for a lottery pick.
Those towns don’t accept mediocrity and hiring people for their Affirmative Action status gets you nothing so you have to pick the best person to give you the best chance to win. When you have stars like Larry Bird, Cornbread Maxwell, Kevin McCale, and Bill Russell you expect a championship every year, not once in fifty.
This team will likely be gone in 3-5 years even with a major renovation of the arena. There are sports towns like Seattle, Las Vegas, and others begging for a team which the owner will make a quick $Billion or two. Why would he want to keep it in a town which does not really support them and cares more about Sanctuaries than championships?
The final nail in the coffin is Kotax had to add taxes to the players. She installed a player tax so all the players with their huge salaries are going to have to pay for the stadium. Not sure if the highly paid owners, coaches, and GMs have to pay too, but talk about another reason to leave. Move it to Las Vegas and get a ten percent raise.
It is very possible they will have moved before the Moda is finished. What then? A few protest singers and a minor league hockey team? Maybe they could have the nations largest hemp convention since they have run every other business out of the state.
If lumber was still king and the resources were not locked out this could have been built with chump change and some lumber company or gold mine would stick its name on it rather than an insurance company. Are they going to change the name to the Tiny Kotax Center? Of all the dumb ideas Salem has come up with, this one may be icing on the Marble Cupcake.
Pray for Portland’s Revival
