Oregon is Dying II 4/23/2026

For it is written, As I live, saith the Lord, every knee shall bow to me, and every tongue shall confess to God.

By any objective measure the Oregon forests are dying and dying fast. They are overgrown and being choked off by fast growing weed trees which are taking the water and sunlight from the Douglas Fir and Cedar which are the native forests Oregon is famous for. In addition, all of the windblown and dead trees which have fallen on the forests floor are adding to the already massive fire fuel making blast furnaces out of these trees.

These forests are not going to get better by leaving them alone but the crisis is only going to get worse as time goes by. The Communists are going to blame Climate Fraud as the issue when in reality it is the forests getting sicker and sicker with no effort to heal them. The thicker fast growing weed trees like lodgepole pine overgrow themselves to become standing dead and victims of bugs and fires.

Nobody can seriously say these forests in Oregon are getting healthier and have to admit these fires are getting larger and more violent. Today’s forests burn areas the size of the Tillamook burn in 24 hours and burn at 1500 to 2500 degrees verses the 7-900 degrees old fires burned at. This is due to the massive amount of dead and dying trees and logs in the forests which never existed fifty years ago.

The Santiam fire a few years ago which burned over 700 square miles and nearly burned into Portland if not for God changing the wind. These fires are a massive disaster waiting to happen and the only reason the last couple years have not had more is the early rains in September and October. The next Indian summer or fall East wind and you could see more of these city threatening burns.

Oregonians have been conditioned to believe forest fire good, chainsaw bad when the reality is chainsaws are the main tool to make these forests strong and healthy. Clearcuts are not only the most efficient way to harvest trees it clears out dead and dying trees as well as making fire breaks if planned strategically. They also give a place for wildlife to graze while the land replenishes itself for another planting of trees.

The only way to heal the Oregon forests is to harvest 2-3 billion board feet of the 50 billion plus in the state. You can harvest that amount for the next hundred years from natural regeneration and 500 if you replant. This will eliminate the excess fuel in the forests while taking out the dead and dying diseased trees as well as the overgrown lodgepole pine.

It will take twenty to thirty years of proper management in these forests harvesting the 2-3 billion board feet while building fire breaks and access roads. Loggers in the woods are also the first people to get to young fires with water trucks and fire fighting gear putting them out before they become raging furnaces needing massive firefighting crews.

It is time to bring common sense to the forests rather than tree worshiping which demands no trees can ever be cut dead or alive. These earth fundamentalists have no problem with 1000 square miles (640,000 acres) of burned trees like you see in the Columbia Gorge National Monument or Santiam Pass, but a thousand-acre clearcut makes them cry. It is time to become Stewards of the Forests rather than worshipers since worshiping of the trees is killing the forest.

Pray for the Forests
