Grassroots Campaigning 9/22/2026
Republican Clubs
While we were knocking doors in King City we changed our strategy due to the age of our neighborhood. The person who was doing the maps and lists noticed the age of the neighborhood and asked how we could get enough people physically able to knock doors with us. That is when we came up with the idea of setting up neighborhood Republican Clubs to bring people in rather than go out and get them.
This is where the next step of this program is going. The clubs will be formed with the goal of growing the network and putting it to work. This is where the strategies and explanation of the program will occur as well as outreach from the grassroots effort. They will be focusing on growing their size so they begin to saturate their neighborhoods.
Everybody will be encouraged to do activities that grow the group and new arrivals will be celebrated as this is their first step towards becoming active in the Party. People will get an opportunity to meet fellow conservatives and learn real lessons on how to become effective activists for the conservative movement. We will have contests to reward the activities and have fun as well as to find the people who have both motivation and show leadership abilities.
These clubs will be where candidates will find their volunteers and can come to speak and hand out literature and signs. The clubs can also schedule their own activities as they take on their own personality and dynamic. They can schedule their own types of outreach rather it is helping grow other clubs at senior centers, schools or companies in their neighborhoods as well as going door to door. During the campaigns these clubs will be used to distribute literature, signs and whatever else is required to win the elections. Once the neighborhoods are saturated they will be able to hand out entire towns in a matter of days or even hours. At that point there will be an outreach to convert the Independents and moderate Democrats to bring them into the club and get them educated to what conservatism is.
Here is an example of a contest to help people focus on what is important to growing the club and the party:
RepubliKing or RepubliQueen Contest
This game is designed to have fun and grow the King City Republican Club
The following points will be awarded for the following activities:
20 points per phone call to a voter
25 points per door knocked
10 points per dollar donation to the WashCo GOP
25 points for attendance to club sponsored meeting
50 points for bringing a new person to the Republican Club
50 points per new Registered GOP Voter
Helping organize or work with the Republican Club or any GOP activities 50 points/hour
Working for GOP/Campaign office 50 points/hr
150 points for a published letter to a local newspaper
150 points per Precinct leader signed up
At the end of the year we will determine who will receive a trophy and their Picture displayed at the Clubhouse as RepubliKing or RepubliQueen of the Year
The purpose of this contest is to keep people doing activities that will grow the club and keep it vibrant. Members can add to it as long as the main activities are to help the club and expand the outreach. The club is going to be the heart of this program as people will be able to exchange ideas and experiences they are having while they take the Party out into the neighborhood.
Section 8
Getting Out the Vote
In Oregon when you have Vote by Mail you need to begin getting out the vote as soon as the ballots are mailed out. You will begin by hitting your most reliable voters and work your way down. You will eliminate them off your list if they have told you they will vote or have shown up on the Secretary of State’s voted list. You then work your way down to the NAVs who generally don’t vote until the last minute anyway and should have more time as you lower the numbers of non voters down and down. Your goal here is to get 80-90% of your Republicans to vote and 60-70% of your NAVs which should be breaking over 50% due to your sign placements and door knocking. This is the most critical part of the program but they all have to work in unison to have the maximum affect for the campaign.
Conclusion
This is an “Old School” method of reaching and organizing your neighborhoods. Rather than copying a system that is set up to verify the prejudices already established by the liberal media this method goes out and reaches people where they live. We are educating people on their doorsteps so they can understand they have more in common with conservatives than they have been told. You can accomplish more in 5 minutes on the porch than you can with 30 commercials or phone calls since those tactics have already been discounted and ignored. Not only do they appreciate this old fashioned method of reaching out many will thank you for taking the time to help them make an important decision as well as caring about their lives.
This is not a structure as much as it is a framework on which to expand. The beauty of this system is it is the very basic outline of how to manage a neighborhood campaign. This system has an unlimited amount of flexibility since the strength of it is reaching your neighbors and developing a local network to spread Conservative ideas and philosophy making a stronger political force. You need to adjust these ideas to fit your style (and candidates’ style) to make it yours. As it grows and develops new ideas and events will be planned and attended to help outreach in new and exciting ways. Our Old School method is only limited by your imagination and creativity. Now go out and have some fun while spreading the truth to your neighbors.
Thanks
Gary Bray
