Oregon has to get Christine Drazan elected to give Oregonians a chance to get out of the quicksand and back on solid ground. She has put a plan together to make home ownership more affordable and also realistic in a state which has been anti-home ownership for a decade or so. She wants to strip this state of its negative regulations and replace them with a what-can-we-do to make it easier and more affordable by taking out obscene fees nobody can afford. She wants to bring common sense back to home building.

Reduce costly construction delays by pursuing reforms that establish a 120-day maximum decision period for qualifying housing projects, limit repetitive appeals intended to delay construction and expand the use of private plan reviewers and inspectors when government backlogs become excessive.

This is a major hurdle for home buyers since it adds time and money to building a home. Some towns have state and local fees in excess of $100,000 which is ridiculous for someone trying to get a construction loan from a bank. This is impossible for new home buyers who do not have the down payment required to get a $500-750,000 loan.

Expand first time homebuyer programs, including tax credits for first time homebuyers and down payment assistance programs using existing funds to help transition families from renters to homeowners.

This is a good idea if it is coordinated with a land homestead act. Freeing up the land while assisting homesteaders to get the down payment for a construction loan before the land is titled to the homeowner would be a good temporary solution assuming it is repaid. This would be repaid once the homeowner has title and equity in the house and land.

Reduce unnecessary regulatory barriers by simplifying the conversion of commercial buildings into housing, reducing duplicative design review requirements and allowing projects that meet objective standards to move forward without delays.

Create a Housing Permit Command Center to coordinate state agencies and local governments, allow concurrent agency reviews, streamline permitting, enforce permitting deadlines and help qualifying housing projects move from application to construction quickly.

These two are connected to becoming much more efficient with the permitting process as well as eliminating Climate Fraud regulations and fees. The Oregon Communist Party has been anti-home ownership for decades preferring their Chinese style industrial compounds making slaves out of Oregonians in planned housing projects. Drazan wants to reverse all of this by making the permit process as simplified as possible giving kids real freedom.

Make more land available for housing by ensuring buildable land is brought into production, accelerating opportunities to increase housing capacity, making unused state lands available for affordable housing and accurately identifying and protecting working farmland.

Increase housing options across Oregon by incentivizing opportunities for infill and more efficient use of land within existing urban growth boundaries, expanding opportunities for buildable land swaps and supporting responsible growth and boundary management.

This is the basis of Forests4Oregon.com freeing up state-controlled land. The difference is she has been fighting the legal battle for years and knows the legal hurdles. This is the heart of the war against home ownership in Oregon. This land has been needlessly locked up from housing and industry so a bunch of Sierra Club worshipers can say they are saving the planet when they are doing just the opposite.

Expand housing choices by allowing objective approval of code-compliant housing, creating a statewide library of pre-approved housing plans, standardizing the process for construction of accessory dwelling units, modular, manufactured and tiny homes.

This would dovetail perfectly with the Homestead Act giving kids options to build what they want initially and then expand as they become more financially secure and their family grows while living on self-sustainable micro-farms. This is an ideal combination giving first time homeowners a very healthy and affordable option which Christine Drazan has developed into a workable plan.

The real beauty of this plan is the original Constitution set States up to be the Real Estate agent to divide and sell or give land to citizens for the Federal Lands and issue titles. The Fed has 50,000 square miles in Oregon which they could turn over to the state to be homesteaded or sold the same way. This can be a never-ending land machine to build homes and farms across the state and reopen the Oregon Trail for people around the country. Oregon will become one of the most productive states in America if it can change gummits.
