For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.

Today I had a half hour interview with Ed Diehl who just announced for Governor which is something I have never done before but believe readers need to hear what these candidates think. It was a fun conversation talking about issues which are not normally discussed and no gotcha questions which are too tired and boring for someone seeking the truth. Hope to interview all the candidates for Governor and other offices which will be read by the most active Repubs.

I believe he had a good time with the interview, and you could tell this was not in his wheelhouse running for a statewide office. You could tell he was a hesitant warrior similar to Gideon on the threshing floor when God called him. He obviously had to not actually believe where he was and how much weight was suddenly on his shoulders simply due to his petition taking him from a back row congressman to the front row and one of the most powerful men in Salem overnight.

The first question was whether he was for Oregon selling their land to the public or giving it so people to homestead it for first time homebuyers. He was caught completely off guard and said the state was not ready for such a radical idea and could not see himself making it an issue. This was a completely understandable and honest answer.

He then pivoted to the forests and mineral rights need to be properly managed for the forests and people to have good jobs. He was then speaking our language as he discussed how his father and grandfather were both loggers or sawmill workers and understood proper forest management. He also questions why the Fed controls fifty percent of Oregon and has read the Utah lawsuit to fight that holding of resources.

I then asked him about Climate Change and Global warming and how he plans to defeat those frauds. He said he was not ready to fight that battle since it is so accepted in Oregon both politically and publicly but was wanting to fight it on the bill the state passed to fight Global Warming. This bill is worse than the California bill which has driven gas up to $6/gal and closed hundreds of businesses. This was a good tactic but could be getting further in the weeds than most understand but may be a good angle to take to bring the issue onto the table.

I then axed if he was ready to be attacked on abortion which he gave me a not very well-defined explanation which is normal for the Party answer. Repubs are always put on the defensive because they believe every woman wants to be able to have an abortion. He was very defensive in his answer saying he did not want to stop women from getting abortions, but he was purely pro-life. That is a hard tightrope to walk.

I gave him a tip that the real extreme abortion stand is letting babies get killed in the birth canal during the third trimester. Even science says life begins at conception which is where your conscience says you allow a person to be killed and should say you would sign to stop last trimester abortions since even it is unlikely in Oregon until the state is changed. This is the discussion none of the pro-abortionists want to discuss, when is it ok to kill a human being?

I also axed how he can get the churches involved with you and help you change the state? He did not know the answer to that and is reaching out to his Catholic churches and many protestant pastors. It is a shame more than half of Christians will not vote this election and in a midterm, it could be 60% when the Christians would have a magnified influence if they turned out.

His answers were not well thought out or defined but you could hear the passion in his voice on all of them and excited to hammer them out. You could understand he was not really expecting to be in this race but had a passion about changing how Oregon will manage its forests and resources.

He is excited and overwhelmed to give a voice to the people who signed his petition on all sides of this issue. You could tell he takes the responsibility seriously and is an engineer so you can tell he strives for perfection in that which may be a hindrance for politicians. It was refreshing to talk to someone running for office who actually tells you what he believes even if he has not found the proper words. He is not a politician who speaks for thirty minutes without saying anything.

His passion and excitement came through loud and clear and is willing to listen to issues which he may think is beyond his reach. It was refreshing hearing unrehearsed answers. He is going to be a very strong candidate in the primary if he displays his strength and love for Oregon. His main point is releasing the state’s resources and making the Democrats explain why they stand in the way of the proper management of these massive resources.

Just need to get him on board with our virtual town.

Pray for Ed Diehl’s protection.
